Based on the 1960 Academy Award-winning Billy Wilder film The Apartment that starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, PROMISES, PROMISES tells the story of the Consolidated Life Insurance Company and Chuck Baxter, one of its charming young employees. In an effort to advance his career, Chuck lends executives his apartment for their extramarital romantic trysts. But things become slightly complicated when Chuck discovers Fran Kubelik, the object of his affection, is involved with one of the executives.

DENZEL WASHINGTON in the Revival of August Wilson's FENCES


DENZEL WASHINGTON in August Wilson's "FENCES" at the Cort Theatre. The play revival also starred VIOLA DAVIS. Photo was taken on May 9, 2010 outside The Cort Theatre located at 138 West 48th Street. This is the first Broadway revival of the play which officially on April 26, 2010 in a limited 13-week engagement. Directed by Kenny Leon, the cast stars Denzel Washington as Troy Maxson and Viola Davis as Rose, the married couple struggling with changing U.S. race relations. The revival received ten Tony Award nominations, and won three Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Play, Best Performance by an Actor in a Play for Denzel Washington, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Play for Viola Davis.
